Wow. Nearly 40 actions. Dozens of headlines. And one very scared CEO.

Across Canada, the climate movement came together to celebrate #FossilFoolsDay with RBC, Canada’s premier fossil fuel bank. And it turned some heads!Thousands of people at over 40 actions rallied in solidarity at RBC branches including in Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Toronto, Montréal, Moncton, Halifax, and more. It included protests, lock downs, sit-ins, pickets and creative rallies!

RBC lends billions of dollars to fossil fuel companies every year. And they’re choosing to fund Coastal Gas Link, a huge gas pipeline that is planned to bulldoze straight through sacred land held by the Wetʼsuwetʼen First Nation. The Wetʼsuwetʼen people are defending their land by creating a blockade in the path of the Coastal Gas Link pipeline, with cases of them being violently removed and arrested.

That’s why across Canada, people are calling on RBC and its CEO Dave McKay to stop bankrolling climate destruction, and stop funding CGL. The actions made some serious headlines getting coverage in all, the, major, papers (<– each one of those is a hyperlink to a different headline seen by millions!)

These actions are happening because the RBC AGM is coming up. It’s a time when RBC bosses answer for the performance and activity of the bank over the last 12 months. And climate is on the agenda! Safe to say, it won’t go without a bang.

Here’s some more pictures of actions:
